Relative validity of a non-quantitative 33-item dietary screener with a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire among young adults

Abstract The objective of the study was to assess concordance and ranking ability a non-quantitative 33-item dietary screener developed diet young adults in Norway, ‘MyFoodMonth 1.1’, compared semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Data were collected cross-sectional survey evaluating diets students at University Agder, southern Norway. asked complete both an FFQ. collection carried out from September December 2020. Participants first-year university aged ≥18 years familiar with Scandinavian language. Almost half eligible sample ( n 344) excluded due not completing FFQ, 1⋅7 % screener, resulting 172 (66 female) participants median age 21 years. For most items 27/33, 82 %), all aspects quality components Diet Quality Score showed moderate-to-strong FFQ evaluated using Kendall's tau-b analyses t > 0⋅31), supported by visual inspection box whisker plots descriptive cross-tabulation.
